JUVÉDERM® XC Injectable Gel in Albuquerque, NM

JUVÉDERM® XC injectable gel is a U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved dermal filler that, according to its manufacturer, Allergan Inc., is designed to “temporarily treat moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds” in people older than 21. Unlike the original JUVÉDERM injectable gel, JUVÉDERM XC is infused with lidocaine to make its injection more comfortable.

JUVÉDERM XC is a smooth-consistency gel that restores volume to the skin, and smooths away moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds. It is made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a sugar that occurs naturally in the body. In terms of the skin, HA‘s role is to deliver nutrients and hydration, and act as a cushioning agent. Young, healthy skin contains a lot of HA, but factors that include aging and sun exposure reduce the amount, causing skin to lose structure and volume. JUVÉDERM XC is most effective in improving the appearance of nasolabial folds, the lines that run from the bottom of the nose to the corner of the mouth on both sides of the face.

If you desire younger-looking skin without surgery, turn to aesthetic experts at Freya’s Lair Medical Spa in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Offering face-lifts using Dr. Mauricio de Maio’s MD Codes™ to lift and tighten your face and help you look years younger.

One of the most innovative techniques utilizing dermal fillers and neuromodulators that we use at Freya's Lair Medical Spa is called MD Codes™. It was developed by Brazilian plastic surgeon, Mauricio De Maio after more than twenty years of experience, and it provides a methodical, holistic approach to optimizing facial shape.

The MD code lift or 8 point lift is a non-surgical face lift technique using dermal filler to lift and structure the face in the most natural way. Dr. Mauricio de Maio, the famous Brazilian plastic surgeon, is the innovator of this technique.

This is a bespoke treatment which should be designed for each individual after proper assessment and measurements. MD code is not about just filling the lines and wrinkles. This smart technique can help us to achieve the patient’s wish in order to look less tired, less saggy, less sad, and less angry or just look lifted and fresh.

The Vycross range of dermal fillers produced by Allergan used in the specific points. The amount of required product varies between each person and can be from 4-15 syringes.

Rather than only filling lines and folds with injectable fillers, MD Codes™ addresses the underlying frame of the face to produce 360-degree improvement. Facial volume can be deficient in different areas either due to facial aging or genetic development. The 75 MD Codes™ signify 75 potential facial injection points, taking into account the underlying bone, fat compartments, nerves, and vascular structures. Each of these sites corresponds to areas where fat or bone may be deficient.

An MD Codes™ consultation focuses on your goals so it starts with a careful assessment.

MD Codes Advanced Dermal Fillers

What is a face-lift?

Face-lifts using MD Codes by Dr. Mauricio de Maio are nonsurgical, liquid face-lifts that consist of Dermal Fillers and Neurotoxins such as Botox. They revitalize your skin to make you look younger without surgery or downtime. Liquid injectables lift and tighten targeted areas of your face.

What are the benefits of face-lifts?

Some of the many benefits linked with face-lifts include:

  • Tighter skin
  • Lifted skin
  • Younger-looking skin
  • Fewer lines and wrinkles
  • Improved facial volume
  • Less skin sagging
  • Better facial symmetry

Face-lifts are nonsurgical, simple, and painless without any downtime. They can produce dramatic anti-aging results without incisions.

What are the different types of MD Codes?

Liquid face-lifts utilize specialized techniques to improve facial contours with injectables given in a set order. Examples of codes often used during face-lifts include:

Foundation/structural codes

Foundation codes target improvements in face structure, including the areas between your upper and lower face.

Contour/face shaping codes

Contour codes improve face shape, especially near your chin, jawline, and temple.

Aesthetic refinement codes

Refinement codes improve the appearance of areas around your eyes, forehead, and eyebrows, as well as your mouth, nose, and lips.

What should I expect during a face-lift?

Before a face-lift at Freya’s Lair Medical Spa, your specialist reviews your medical history, examines your face, and discusses your desired outcome. They use MD Codes to personalize nonsurgical face-lift procedures that are best for you.

Your provider numbs the treatment area so you can avoid discomfort. They inject various aesthetic substances into targeted areas of your face using the most appropriate MD Codes.

What happens after a face-lift?

While there’s no downtime after a face-lift, you may experience swelling, tenderness, or redness at the injection sites. You can ice the treatment area as needed to reduce swelling. The Freya’s Lair Medical Spa team may divide your treatment into several sessions to achieve the best results.

If you desire tighter, lifted, younger-looking skin without surgery or downtime, consider a face-lift using MD Codes by Dr. Mauricio de Maio. Call the office to schedule an appointment or book one online today.

MD Codes using Filler

Advanced Russian Lip Filler Technique

At Freya's Lair, we offer several Advanced Filler techniques, and "Russian Lips" is one of our favorites! This specific technique will shape the lips into a subtle heart shape with more volume near the center, much like a Russian doll. It tends to lift the lip rather than add excessive volume so it’s ideal for those seeking a natural finish or someone who has never had a Lip Filler procedure before. You will also notice a ‘flatter’ appearance as height is the goal, rather than plumpness. (Although both can be achieved if that is what you desire) With this technique and our experience, you can rest assured that you won't have "duck lips" after this procedure! Unlike traditional lip filler, an injector employing the Russian Lip technique injects the product vertically starting at the base of the lip and drawing the product outward toward the lip border. Rather than starting from the lip border and working inward, the injector works the product from the inside out.

This technique demands an artist’s touch so it’s even more important to find a trustworthy injector with the proper training and experience. Due to the extra time and product involved in the Russian Lip technique, you can expect to pay a little bit more than you would for traditional lip fillers. The extra investment is worth it to get exactly what you want! The Russian Lip technique takes anywhere from 45-60 minutes, including prep time.

JUVÉDERM XC Injectable Gel Procedure

JUVÉDERM XC injections take about 30-60 minutes to administer. A fine needle is used for the injection, which is given under the skin in the targeted area to add volume or fill in wrinkles and folds. Because JUVÉDERM XC contains lidocaine to improve comfort, an anesthetic may not be needed. However, a doctor may still elect to use a topical anesthetic on the area to be treated before giving the injection. Afterword, the doctor may gently massage the treated area(s).

Once treatment is completed, patients can return, with virtually no downtime, to their regular activities. For the first 24 hours after treatment, to reduce the risk of complications, patients should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and alcohol consumption.

Results of JUVÉDERM XC Injectable Gel

The results of JUVÉDERM XC are visible immediately after injection; any swelling and bruising, to which ice can be applied, should subside during the next few days. Results can last up to year. However, according to its manufacturer, “Results from injectable dermal filler vary and correction is temporary. Supplemental ‘touch up‘ treatments may be required to achieve and maintain optimal correction of . . . wrinkles and folds.”

Risks of JUVÉDERM XC Injectable Gel

Although JUVÉDERM XC is considered safe, there is a risk of side effects. They are usually limited to the injection site, and include the following:

  • Redness
  • Pain or tenderness
  • Firmness
  • Swelling
  • Lumps or bumps
  • Bruising
  • Itching
  • Discoloration
  • Infection

For customized treatment, Allergan, Inc., offers two types of JUVÉDERM XC: JUVÉDERM Ultra XC, which is suitable for superficial facial lines and folds, and JUVÉDERM Ultra Plus XC, a stronger formulation that is used for deeper facial folds and lines. JUVÉDERM XC is the first HA filler that is FDA-approved for use on people of color.
